Steve Oke, director and designer, has spent the last 20 years exploring and developing his passion and knowledge of building design and sustainability.
He now offers his substantial knowledge and skills in the area of sustainable building design and drafting, for those looking for design solutions that have sustainability at the core.
After completing university studies, and obligatory backpacking adventures, he undertook a property design and development in North East Victoria including designing and owner building a sustainable, off grid, passive solar house extensively using natural and local materials. He then developed and operated an award winning local organic vegetable production business for over 10 years, including pioneering subscription farming in North East Victoria.
Inspired by the building design and owner building experience, Steve obtained formal qualifications in building design and drafting and has worked as a draftsperson for others for some years in Victoria and NSW.
Over the years Steve has furthered his own knowledge and shared with others, casually teaching permaculture, running house tours, tutoring building design students, and having many inspiring conversations.
He regularly undertakes professional development training, browses the latest eco-focussed mags and articles, and is always on the lookout for the next step in building sustainability solutions and innovative design.
In his spare time, Steve loves to travel and camp with his family, exploring natural places all over Australia and beyond, as well as being a keen mountain bike rider, xc skier, runner, veggie gardener, and late night book reader.
